Why Sanur is an easy place to start driving in Bali

Sanur sits on Bali's southeast coast, a straight run up from the airport and just far enough from Kuta and Seminyak to escape the worst of the traffic. The town is laid out along one main road (Jalan Danau Tamblingan) with a long, flat beachfront path behind it, and the side streets are wider and calmer than anything in Canggu or Legian. • East Bali — Candidasa, Amed, Tirta Gangga and the Tenganan area are all comfortable day trips or one-night stops on the coast road east.
• Kintamani and Mount Batur — the climb up through Bangli is straightforward, and having your own car means you can go for sunrise without booking a tour.
• Nusa Penida day trips — you'll leave the car at the Sanur harbour parking area and take the fast boat across. Confirm with your rental agency that leaving the vehicle parked overnight or for a day trip is fine.
